Olive Wood Jesus Wall Hanging

This fish wall hanging is carved from one solid piece of olive wood.  The wood around the name of "Jesus" is skillfully removed so that the letters remain.  Decorative areas at the head and tail of the fish are also removed. Two rings secure a 5-inch long brass-colored chain for displaying this unique carving.  

The symbol of the fish has been associated with believers for centuries.  It is believed it was used as a secret code scratched into the doorpost of homes to let other believers know that believers lived there.  The Greek word for fish is "Ichthus."

Olive wood products come only from the trimmings of olive trees, which is an essential process for the healthy and proper growth of the trees.  This promotes environmental sustainability. The olive wood is then dried and cured before it is used for carving.  Every piece is different and unique.
